Veterans Day holds a profound significance for me, not only as a Marine Corps Veteran but as someone who proudly served as a Combat Photographer right out of high school. Today, while we formally recognize and honor veterans, I celebrate the courage and sacrifice of these brave men and women every single day. At one point, that was me, standing alongside them, witnessing firsthand the dedication it takes to defend our freedom. Even I was a warrior in battle, fighting alongside these brave men and women, and at one point, I was wounded.
It takes an extraordinary individual to willingly place their life on the line so that others may enjoy the freedoms they often take for granted. Serving in the military revealed countless lessons, but what resonates most deeply is the unwavering love and camaraderie shared among those who serve. The bond formed with the person fighting to your left and right is unbreakable, forged through moments of hardship, loyalty, and shared purpose. It is this connection that ties all military members together, creating an unspoken understanding and friendship, even among those who have never met.
I am truly honored to have served with some of the finest and bravest men and women. My military family continues to expand as I meet new veterans, each with their own story of resilience and sacrifice. Today, I especially wish to honor those who gave everything—their lives—for us to enjoy the freedoms we have today.
Veterans Day should not simply be about discounts or a day off. It should be a day to pause and show genuine love and support for those who fought so that we could live freely. Let us remember and honor their legacy, not just today, but every day.
To all my brothers and sisters in arms, past and present, I salute you. Your sacrifice is never forgotten.
