When a client approached me with a unique horror-themed photoshoot idea, I knew we had the opportunity to create something truly captivating. Together, we developed a multi-day photoshoot that combined both creative direction and technical expertise, all while shooting at multiple locations across North Providence, Rhode Island.
In this blog post, I’m excited to share the clown portion of our two-day shoot, offering a sneak peek into the eerie world we built. These images, which feature an unsettling combination of clowns and decaying amusement park settings, are only one part of this haunting project, with more scenes and costumes still to come!
Creative Vision: Collaborating on a Horror Story
For this shoot, my client wanted to explore multiple horror archetypes and settings. With a goal of creating cinematic, horror-inspired imagery, we mapped out a detailed plan over two days, shooting at three distinct locations. These included the client’s residence and Govern Notte Park in North Providence, Rhode Island, providing us with a perfect backdrop for the dark visuals we envisioned.
The scenes we shot combined a mix of haunting, dramatic, and surreal visuals. From a clown wandering through shadowy woods to eerie amusement park settings, we built a narrative that was both visually stunning and deeply unsettling. We used four distinct costumes, each lending its own layer of storytelling to the photos. The images you see here reflect just one aspect of the shoot, with more chilling scenes still to come.
This project was a reminder of why I love creative photography—it allows me to work closely with my clients to bring their ideas to life, no matter how out-of-the-box they may seem. If you have a unique vision for a photoshoot—whether for personal or business purposes—I’d love to help bring it to life.
Technical Expertise: Lighting, Cameras, and Advanced Editing
While the creative process was key to this shoot, the technical side demanded just as much focus. For this shoot, I utilized a range of gear, including two Nikon cameras, a DJI drone, and the compact yet powerful DJI Pocket 3. The lighting for the shoot was handled with Westcott lights, giving us full control over the eerie and dramatic atmosphere we were after.
Shooting at multiple locations meant setting up and breaking down equipment more than 12 times over the course of two days. This attention to detail, combined with technical know-how, allowed me to create images that were sharp, moody, and cinematic. The real work, however, began during post-production.
Over 40 hours of editing went into this shoot, ensuring that each image was polished to perfection. This included everything from adjusting lighting and color grading to enhancing mood and atmosphere. Importantly, no AI was used at any stage of this project. Every image was edited by hand—an approach that ensures each shot maintains its authentic, human touch.
No AI, Only Human Creativity and Craftsmanship
In today’s age of AI tools, I take pride in the fact that this shoot was created entirely by hand. From the initial concept to the final edits, each photo was produced using the skills and knowledge I’ve honed through years of professional photography. No AI was involved—just good old-fashioned creativity and attention to detail.
This commitment to quality is what makes each of my photoshoots truly one-of-a-kind. I’m passionate about delivering results that are personal, artistic, and built to stand out.
